Teenagers are faced with some of the greatest challenges in terms of developmental needs and goals. For most people this is a time in life when you are experimenting with independence but still require a lot of support and guidance from those who love you. It is a confusing time of rapid growth. It is important for mothers and fathers to learn how to grow as parents with their child and understand how to support their teenager during this highly transitional time in life. Navigating through the teen years can be particularly difficult for parents because it represents a time of perceived letting go which can be overwhelmingly upsetting and scary. Therapy helps teens and their parents understand the developmental needs and how they can best support each other, while allowing the teenager the space and freedom to experiment and become a productive and independent young adult.
Teenagers may find it difficult to begin the therapeutic process. Once engaged they often find it to be a rewarding process in which they feel supported during a time that for many is very challenging. Confidentiality plays an important role in a teenager's level of comfort when working with a therapist. At the same time, parents are often concerned about their teenager's safety and wish to actively participate in the process. At Arch Group we understand and respect the dynamics among teens and their parents. We aim to work at an optimal level of confidentiality in which all parties can be most productive and comfortable.

Although medication is not an option for everyone, for some conditions, therapy along with medication are a treatment combination that works best. For people who benefit from medication, we work with your primary care physicians, pediatrician and psychiatrist in order to assist in overall treatment.
